What are the current trends in entertaining for guests these days?

When we entertain a few friends we usually go with snack type foods, beer, wine, soda pop. But when we throw a big cook out (like 4th of July) we go all out. 2 or 3 different kinds of meat, tons of salads, tons of desserts, wine, beer, mixed drinks, soda pop for the kids, of course water, and anyone who wants to smoke, can. We have friends and family who range in ages from the youngest at 7 months to the oldest at 87 years, and everything in between. We welcome everyone and judge no one. It's aways a fun time.
