IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WHO APPRECIATES REBECCA BLACK'S "FRIDAY"?
Now I know that the song has received much negative criticism. The lyrics are awful, the sound is repetitive and annoying, and the auto-tune is over the top. But that is where the beauty of it all lies. Can anyone else see the parallels between "Friday" and other mainstream songs? Has anyone else been enlightened to how dismal, boring, fake, and retarded mainstream music is via Rebecca Black's "Friday"? "Friday" is merely a caricature of modern-day pop music, exaggerating all of the negative aspects of pop. For instance, many of the hit pop songs have auto-tune, simple sound, and godawful lyrics, but rather than condemning these songs, we embrace them. Ke$ha, Katy Perry, and many many more artists have some of the worst music I've heard, and it's like I'm the only one that feels this way. I thought for sure after "Friday" reached a soaring popularity that others would also realize how drab pop music is. Rather than appreciating "Friday" for how it shines this new light on pop music, we remain ignorant and condemn it for its simplicity. Look past the unintelligent lyrics, the horrible, annoying sound, and the ugly teens. Understand what "Friday" is trying to convey, even if this message is inadvertent. If anyone agrees with me, please comment. And also, if anyone has any websites that share a similar viewpoint, please add them to your answer. I'm doing paper on this song and its ramifications.
